Орьнек. Кримськотатарський орнамент
silver
On the obverse of the coin, in the center of the composition, there is a figure of the Crimean Tatar embroiderer Nagyshcha, a charming craftswoman, bent over the kergef embroidery machine. Her hands, skillfully wielding a needle, breathe life into the canvas, creating exquisite orneka patterns on it. Sprouts of ornament bloom from the nagishcha in different directions, symbolizing the continuity of tradition, its unceasing continuation by talented descendants. At the top are the inscriptions UKRAINE (in a semicircle), below ORNEK / ОРНЕК, the small State Coat of Arms of Ukraine (in the center between the inscriptions), denomination 10 and the graphic symbol of the hryvnia, the minting year is 2024 (to the right of the master).
On the reverse of the coin, an ornament representing family values is reproduced in relief on a mirror background. In the center of the ornament are interconnected elements that reflect the deep symbolism of family ties. This family consists of the signs of a man, a woman and their shared home. On both sides of the central vertical are symbols of children. Together, they create a complete ornament that reflects family unity and harmony.
Dedicated to the unique ornament, which is an integral part of the national identity of the Crimean Tatars. Ornek is a living heritage that has preserved its unique beauty and deep meaning for centuries and serves as a source of inspiration for artists. Each embroidered or painted pattern is a kind of message that crosses time and space, connects the past with the present, and transmits the heritage of the people to future generations. In 2021, Ornek was officially included in UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
