Obverse: above, against the backdrop of a stylized composition depicting a fragment of the fortress’s arched entryway is Ukraine`s small coat of arms, below which is the legend УКРАЇНА (Ukraine); beneath, against a smooth background, is a key, under which is the following legend: 10/ГРИВЕНЬ/2021 (10/hryvnias/2021).
Reverse: there is the following composition: a bird’s eye view of Kyiv Fortress, to the right of which is a map of the fortifications; beneath are the following legends: КИЇВСЬКА (Kyiv) (against a smooth background) and ФОРТЕЦЯ/XVIII–XIX ст. (fortress/the 18th to the 19th centuries) (against the backdrop of the outline of fortress merlons).
This coin celebrates one of the world’s largest stone and earth fortresses that survives to this day – unique defensive fortifications that were built over many centuries. Kyiv Fortress National Historical and Archeological Museum is a unique historic site, featuring many constructions related to liberation movements in Ukraine.
