Coin Volodymyr Filatov 2 UAH, market price 28.01.2026

On the coin obverse there is depicted a conventionalized diagram of the human optical system and the inscription 2 ГРИВНІ (2 / hryvnia), the coin face value; above there is the small National Emblem of Ukraine under which there is the semicircular inscription: УКРАЇНА (Ukraine), beneath - 2005 (the coin issue year) as well as the Mint logotype of the National Bank of Ukraine

On the coin reverse there is a portrait of Volodymyr Filatov, displaced to the right from the centre; on the left there is the inscription: ВОЛОДИМИР ФІЛАТОВ (Volodymyr Filatov) 1875/1956, made as a chart for eyesight checking.

The coin is dedicated to 130th anniversary of Volodymyr Filatov, an outstanding ophthalmologist and surgeon, whose greatest discovery was a tissue therapy - a principally new medical treatment method. Volodymyr Filatov is a brilliant representative of a Pleiad of scientists who have enriched world medical science with distinguished achievements. He was the founder of the national scientific school of ophthalmologists, a foundation initiator and director of Odesa scientific and research institute for eye-diseases and tissue therapy
