On the coin obverse there is represented a towel whereon there are conventionalized images of a bird (on the left) and flowers (on the right). Above and below the towel there is the semicircular inscription: УКРАЇНА (Ukraine) as well as the small National Emblem of Ukraine. At the bottom of the coin there is the inscription: 2 ГРИВНІ 2003 (2 hryvnia /2003) and the Mint logotype of the National Bank of Ukraine.

On the coin reverse there is a portrait of Andrii Malyshko; against the background of a rural scene consisting of the sun and trees (on the left) and a peasant`s hut and mallow flowers (on the right). Beneath there is the semicircular inscription: 1912-1970, АНДРІЙ МАЛИШКО (Andrii Malyshko)
The coin is dedicated to the Ukrainian poet and songwriter Andrii Malyshko (02.11.1912 - 17.02.1970). Malyshko`s lyrics set to music by the Ukrainian composer P.Maiboroda (`The Kyivan waltz`, `Song about rushnyk`, `Small path`, etc.) became folk songs.
