On the coin obverse there is depicted a treble set within the frame of wildflowers, above which there is the small National Emblem of Ukraine, beneath there are depicted 2003, the mintage year and circular inscriptions: УКРАЇНА (Ukraine) (left), 2 ГРИВНІ (2 hryvnia) (right), as well as the Mint logotype of the National Bank of Ukraine

On the coin reverse Borys Hmyria `s portrait is depicted, on its right there is a two-lined depiction of the years of his life:1903 - 1969, beneath there is a facsimile of the outstanding singer

The coin is dedicated to the birth centenary of Borys Romanovych Hmyria, bass singer, who rose to eminence in his performance. Working as a soloist in Kharkiv (1936) and Kyiv (1939-1957) opera and ballet theatres he contributed to the world treasury of masterly performance over 600 romances, 39 opera parts, 85 fragments from vocal -stage and symphonic compositions. Borys Hmyria was given the rank of the People`s artist of the USSR (1951) and became a winner of the USSR State prize.
