A set of two commemorative coins "Inhabitants of the deep sea" in a souvenir package 10 UAH, market price 31.01.2026

The obverse of the coin, dedicated to the Black Sea, depicts a stylized outline of the Black Sea with the adjacent territory of Ukraine, made in the form of relief horizontal lines of different lengths imitating sea waves. At the top right, there is a small State Coat of Arms of Ukraine, under which the inscription UKRAINE is indicated. In the lower center, there is a denomination of 5 with a graphic sign of the hryvnia, the year of minting of the coin is 2025, as well as the logo of the Banknote and Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine. In the lower part of the composition, the inscriptions: ЧОРНЕ МОРЕ and THE BLACK SEA are placed in a semicircle. The reverse of the coin depicts a hermit crab (decoration element – ​​color print) in a typical biotope – on a rocky bottom with shells and mussel fragments typical of the Black Sea coastal zone. The inscription DIOGENES PUGILATOR is placed in a semicircle at the top, and CANCER-SOLITARY at the bottom.

The set of two commemorative coins is dedicated to the unique representatives of the marine fauna of the Black and Azov Seas - an integral part of the natural heritage of Ukraine. The Black and Azov Seas play an important role in preserving the biodiversity of the region, maintaining the ecological balance and ensuring the economic stability of the state. Among the many inhabitants of these reservoirs are the hermit crab (Diogenes pugilator) and the round goby (Neogobius melanostomus) - species that serve as bioindicators of the state of the marine environment and are important elements of marine ecosystems. With this set of two commemorative coins, the National Bank of Ukraine aims to draw attention to the problem of preserving the seas, to remind humanity of its responsibility to protect natural resources, and to emphasize the importance of marine biota in the formation of Ukraine's ecosystem.
