The souvenir banknote is dedicated to the hero of Ukraine, the first cosmonaut of independent Ukraine Leonid Kadenyuk, who in 1997 flew on the American Space Shuttle Columbia (STS-87 mission) as part of an international crew. The Ukrainian cosmonaut-researcher performed a wide range of works within the framework of a joint Ukrainian-American experiment, the task of which was to study the effect of microgravity on the growth and development of higher plants. The souvenir banknote is made on paper with a watermark (image of the globe with continents), a 1.5 mm protective tape is inserted into the thickness of the paper parallel to the smaller side of the banknote and protective fibers that acquire a fluorescent glow under the influence of ultraviolet rays. The souvenir banknote is printed using offset, intaglio, screen and high printing methods using protected inks. The dimensions of the souvenir banknote are 80 x 170 mm. The main image of the front side of the souvenir banknote is a portrait of Leonid Kadenyuk, above which the inscription is the first cosmonaut of Ukraine; logo of the state Space Agency of Ukraine (right); under the portrait of the inscription: LEONID KADENIUK / 1951 Leonid 2018 / Kadenyuk; to the left of the inscriptions - the element SPARK in the form of a globe, which has a kinetic effect (when changing the angle of inclination of the banknote in areas of the image there are transitions from Green to blue); at the bottom left against the background of the molecular structure-a stylized image of a plant; the small state coat of arms of Ukraine, above which the inscription Ukraine and the flag of Ukraine (under the inscription Kadenyuk); under the coat of arms – the number 1 and the image of a spacecraft; at the bottom of the inscription: National BANK of Ukraine/ National Bank of Ukraine; in the lower right corner of the banknote – an element made with optically variable paint (when changing the angle of inclination of the banknote, the image color changes from Golden to green). Along the bottom edge is the inscription Leonid Kadenyuk, repeated six times. The main image of the reverse side of the souvenir banknote is an image of the Columbia spacecraft against the background of the planets of the solar system; above it are the inscriptions THE first ASTRONAUT of UKRAINE; on the right – the number 1 and the image of the spacecraft; inscriptions: 1997 (under the rocket), 2020 (below); at the bottom right vertically: the serial number of the banknote and the inscription – is not a means of payment. Along the bottom edge is the inscription Leonid Kadenyuk, repeated six times.
