On the obverse of the medal is: on the mirror background of a small state emblem of Ukraine and a vertical inscription Ukraine (below on the left), the year of minting of the medal - 20/23 (right); In the center, on the mirror background of the abduction of the image of the Mother of God, who holds on the stroke arms of the omophor, depicts the non -canonical image of the Virgin, who closed her face from grief and wicked, tears that enlarged down under her palm; Above the side of the figure on a matte background, symbolizing the destruction of the city, inscriptions: the city (left) of Mary (right); The logo of the Banknote Courtyard of the National Bank of Ukraine (below on the right).

On the reverse of the medal there is a stylized composition: on a mirror background, symbolizing the explosion of the airbag, under the sight of the theater building, in front of which is written in capital letters in Russian in the Russian language, a semicircle of inscriptions - Mariupol (above left) Drama Theater (below).

It is dedicated to one of the most tragic pages, which has become the history of cruel crimes of the Russian army against the civilian population of Ukraine. The crime was witnessed by the Mariupol Drama Theater, who in the spring of 2022 was filled not by spectators of performances, but by hundreds of Mariupols, who hid from Russian bombardment. But the enemy, neglecting the laws of war, deliberately dropped over a powerful airbot into the theater, under the rubble of which hundreds of people - mostly women, children, elderly people were killed.
