Obverse: above, there is an image of the Small Coat of Arms of Ukraine; in the middle, there is a stylized ornament and the following legends: НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК/ УКРАЇНИ/ 5/ ГРИВЕНЬ (National Bank/ of Ukraine/ 5/ hryvnias); below, against a smooth background, there is the coin issue year - 2013, metal fineness - Ag 925, coin weight - 15.55 (to the left), and the logo of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine (to the right).

Reverse: there is an image of the snake done in a lubok style and surrounded by a stylized floral ornament (the snake has a green eye). Above and below the composition, there are silhouettes of all 12 animals that represent the Chinese (oriental) calendar.
