On the coin obverse in the centre there is the Small National Emblem of Ukraine, below the year of coinage: 2006. There are two semicircular inscriptions: above - НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК/ УКРАЇНИ (National Bank of Ukraine), below - ДВІ ГРИВНІ (2 Hryvnia) ) and the logotype of the National Bank of Ukraine Mint.

On the coin reverse there is depicted the university building, above which its logotype is placed (to the right) and the inscriptions: to the left - ХАРКІВСЬКИЙ НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ ЕКОНОМІЧНИЙ УНІВЕРСИТЕТ (the Kharkiv National Economic University, below - РІК ЗАСНУВАННЯ/ 1930 (the year of the foundation/1930).
