On the coin obverse within the insert ring, against the background of a conventionalized ornament there is depicted the small National emblem of Ukraine, above there is the coin issue year - 2004, year; within the outer circle there are the inscriptions: УКРАЇНА, 5, ГРИВЕНЬ (Ukraine/ 5/ hryvnia) and the logotype of the NBU Mint

The coin is dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Ukraine`s full membership in UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization). Since May 12, 1954 is Ukraine a member of UNESCO and since 1962 the Permanent mission of Ukraine at the UNESCO functions in Paris. The main task of UNESCO lies in strengthening peace and security through broadening of people`s cooperation in education, science and culture.
