The composition is completely identical to the 1 karbovanets note; only the denomination and color have been changed.
- Artistic Image: On the left, within a decorative rosette, is an image of Lybid — a fragment of the monument to the founders of Kyiv.
- Inscriptions: "УКРАЇНА" (Ukraine) at the top center, the word "КУПОН" (Coupon) below it, followed by a large numeral "3". At the bottom is the inscription "КАРБОВАНЦІ", with the issuer "НАЦІОНАЛЬНИЙ БАНК УКРАЇНИ" (National Bank of Ukraine) and the year "1991" below.
- Features: There are no serial numbers or signatures on the banknote.
- Artistic Image: In the center of the banknote, Saint Sophia Cathedral in Kyiv is depicted.
- Inscriptions and Elements: The numeral "3" is placed in the four corners within patterned decorative rosettes.
- Background: The field is filled with a complex protective guilloche mesh.
The second banknote in the first series of Ukrainian coupon-karbovanets. Like the entire denomination range of that year, it was printed in France by the "Imprimerie Spéciale de Fiduciaire" company.
- Size: 105 × 53 mm.
- Color: Gray-green (main background and design elements).
- Watermark: "Parquet" type (light diagonal lines across the entire field).
Interesting Fact: There is a rare variety of this banknote featuring a horizontal "3 ГРН" overprint on the left part of the obverse, which is much scarcer than standard specimens. The inscription is visible at a certain viewing angle and glows under ultraviolet light.
