The coin celebrates Ukraine’s air defense forces. Today, Ukraine’s air defenses play a crucial role in safeguarding both military and civilian facilities, and are an essential component of the country’s national security system. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the air defense forces — comprising the anti-aircraft missile units of the Ukrainian Air Force, Ground Forces, and Navy; aviation and airspace surveillance units of the Ukrainian Air Force; and other air defense units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine — have consistently worked to intercept and neutralize enemy missiles and drones.
