The 10 kopeck coin is a small change coin. Introduced into circulation on September 2, 1996 — together with the introduction of the hryvnia.
The coin exists in two fundamentally different versions:
- Circulation version: Made of low-carbon steel with brass electroplating. It is magnetic and was released for mass circulation.
- Set version: Made of aluminum bronze (non-magnetic). Minted exclusively for the "20 Years of Monetary Reform in Ukraine" collector set in UNC quality.
The set version is rare due to the limited mintage (10,000 units) and the use of a metal alloy that had already been phased out of regular production for this denomination.
