Obverse: on top of the coat of arms of the USSR with 15 turns of tape underneath the letters "USSR", the symbol below if the coin denomination numeral "5" and below the word "RUBLES", below, Kant year of issue "1987".

Reverse: in the upper part on the background of a stylized image of a banner with the date "1917" the bas-relief of Lenin. Under it in five lines inscription "70 years of the GREAT OCTOBER SOCIALIST REVOLUTION" and a Laurel branch.

Edge: two pressed the inscription "FIVE RUBLES", pressed in between two five-pointed stars.
