850-летие со дня рождения Низами Гянджеви — персидско-азербайджанского поэта и мыслителя

Obverse: on top of the coat of arms of the USSR with 15 turns of tape underneath the letters "USSR", the symbol below if the coin denomination, the number "1" and below the word "RUBLE", the bottom edge year of issue "1991".

Reverse: left portrait of the poet at work. To the right of it in two lines, inscription "850 years", and more to the right along the outer rim of the coin there is an inscription twisted letters "NIZAMI GANJAVI".

Edge: two pressed the inscription "ONE RUBLE", between them the two pressed square pixels.
