Obverse: on top of the coat of arms of the USSR with 15 turns of tape underneath the letters "USSR", the symbol below if the coin denomination, the number "1" and below the word "RUBLE", the bottom edge year of issue "1991".
Reverse: in the centre a portrait of Magtymguly. The right semicircle of the years of the life of a poet "1733" and "1798", separated by a dot. Left - the inscription twisted letters "MAKHTUMKULI".
Edge: two pressed the inscription "ONE RUBLE", between them the two pressed square pixels.
