Obverse: on top of the coat of arms of the USSR with 15 turns of tape underneath the letters "USSR", the symbol below if the coin denomination, the number "1" and below the word "RUBLE", the bottom edge year of issue "1988".

Reverse: in the center of the image of Gorky and Petrel in flight over the raging sea, left a semicircle the inscription "A. M. GORKY" and the date "1868 - 1936".

Edge: two pressed the inscription "ONE RUBLE", between them the two pressed square pixels.
