Obverse: on top of the coat of arms of the USSR with 15 turns of tape underneath the letters "USSR", the symbol below if the coin denomination, the number "1" and below the word "RUBLE", the bottom edge year of issue "1987".

Reverse: at centre an image of the monument to field Marshal Mikhail Kutuzov near its command post on the field of Borodino. in the upper part a semicircle the inscription "175 years of BORODINO BATTLE", the bottom is the date "1812".

Edge: two pressed the inscription "ONE RUBLE", between them the two pressed square pixels.
