Obverse: top along the rim the words "FIFTY years of SOVIET rule", in the center the coat of arms of the USSR with 15 turns of tape under it marking the coin denomination "FIFTY" and below the word "CENTS".
Reverse: left a five-pointed star underneath the letters "USSR", to the right of V. I. Lenin with a raised right hand, behind him, occupying most of the coin field, the hammer and sickle.
Edge: repeated eight times to a group of depressed five-pointed star and round dot.
